Pueblo Motorsports Park (PMP)
www.pueblomotorsportspark.com

A staple track for Colorado, especially since the days of Second Creek, PMP offers a combination of high speeds, elevation changes, and a variety of corner types. A technically challenging track, resist the urge to put each corner in a box – learn each turn, yes, but the real trick is to figure out how to tie them all together!

Whether from the north or south of Pueblo, you’ll want to get off of I-25 at exit 101 (north side of Pueblo) and take highway 50 west. You’ll travel just a few miles west past the dealerships until you reach North Pueblo Blvd which is a light (yes, you’re out in the middle of nowhere at this point). Take a left (south) on North Pueblo Blvd and take your first right underneath the giant sign that says something cryptic like “Pueblo Motorsports Park”. Continue winding on the paved portion of the road until you drive into the track.

Pikes Peak International Raceway (PPIR)
www.ppir.com

Yes, ladies and gentlemen, PPIR is back from a multi-year respite! A simple oval? Don’t be fooled! The high speeds make the infield road course tricky, so keep your wits about you!

From Colorado Springs, head south on I-25 for roughly 18 miles, and you’ll run into PPIR just outside of the town of Fountain on the right hand side – exit 122, it’s tough to miss! If you’re coming from the south, you’ll have to get off of I-25 at exit 119 and take the frontage road north (Midway Ranch Road) along the west side of the highway to the track.

La Junta Raceway

Granted it’s old, but this track smells of great history! It’s a short road course on La Junta Airport grounds, but you’ll find that this track has some unique tricks. Sure, turn 1 is a thriller the first time you blow through at 110 mph, but then you transition from asphalt to concrete and then back again all the while trying to scrub speed while navigating turn 2 and 3’s decreasing radius. Suddenly you find yourself enjoying and respecting La Junta just a little more than you thought possible from your glance at the track map.

La Junta is a little trickier to get to than the other tracks and there are a few ways to do it. We’ll give you one sure bet along with an address, and you can decide for yourself. You’ll need to make your way to La Junta somehow (obviously). If you’re coming from the Denver area or further north, you can take I-70 east to highway 71 (@ Limon), take 71 south until you hit highway 50, then head east until you hit La Junta. Or you can just take highway 50 east from Pueblo until you get there. In any case, you’ll want to take North Main St. (also highway 109) north to the La Junta Municipal Airport which is just a few miles. If you follow the signs to the airport, you’ll take right onto Harris Rd. from highway 109. Take your first left (Otero) and another immediate left (Railroad St.). It will immediately curve to the right. Follow it 150 yards or so and take a left into the track paddock.
